College of Veterinary Medicine

What you practice grows stronger. What are you practicing?

Hi, I'm Shawna, your College of Veterinary Medicine Life Management Counselor.

I've worked for the University of Arizona since 2019, starting at CAPS on main campus and transferring to the College of Veterinary Medicine in Oro Valley in 2022. I'm a licensed counselor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Counselors. One of my core values is connecting and relating to my clients, and I strive to create a safe and welcoming space for all people. As a Life Management Counselor, I provide counseling and support for anxiety, depression, substance use/abuse, trauma, mood disorders and relationship issues; all done through a trauma-informed lens.

CVM Life Management services are:

  • Available for CVM students only
  • Confidential
  • Paid for by the university, which means they're free to students
  • Available Monday - Wednesday and Friday, am - 5 pm
  • Virtual and in-person (Oro Valley) as needed

Services & Events

All services are confidential and free to students.

Wellness Consultations

The first step for Life Management Counseling. Consultations are an easy and informal opportunity to determine your care needs and get professional emotional support, guidance, and resources.

Counseling

When students want more support than wellness consultation, they can start therapy for more in-depth, consistent, and goal-oriented mental health care.

Comprehensive Referrals

When students have care needs outside of what Life Management can provide, we assist with referrals to other resources both inside and outside the university.
