Professional Interests
Dr. Barnes is the Director of CAPS. He has worked in the University setting for seven years in a variety of roles within University Counseling Centers. These roles include coordinating areas of public health, outreach, and LGBTQPIA+ programs. Aaron enjoys mentoring students and helping to develop future leaders in mental health care. His clinical work focuses on identity development, substance abuse recovery, crisis support, and LGBTQPIA+ support. He works within Relational-Cultural and ACT frameworks. He believes that the client is the expert on their own life and strives to connect with clients authentically.
Personal Interests
Hiking, weightlifting, camping, traveling, music and theatre, and spending time with his dog, Dunder.
