Mental Health Assessments
Some student concerns are complex, there are many layers, and speaking with a specialist can help you determine the level of care you need. Our assessment include ADHD diagnostic evaluation and in-depth structured interviews for eating, body image, gender identity, and substance use. Based on your assessment, your CAPS provider will make recommendations and help you get connected to the level of care that is the best fit for your needs.
ADHD Diagnostic Evaluation
An ADHD evaluation examines specific aspects of the way you think and other parts of your mental health history that can help determine the right diagnosis for you. Whether or not that diagnosis is ADHD, your evaluator will give you a report that summarizes your unique strengths, challenges, and specific recommendations for your next steps.
Note: ADHD evaluations do have a cost associated.
Eating Disorder Assessment
An eating disorder evaluation can help you learn more about your eating concerns and behaviors. Your provider will ask you detailed questions about your history, current behaviors, concerns, and more. The assessment will help identify if you have an eating disorder and the right steps for you to take next, which may include an appointment with a Campus Health dietitian or eating disorder treatment. Your provider will help get you connected with the next steps for getting the right level of care.
Note: A referral from a CAPS provider is required for eating disorder assessments at CAPS.
Gender Affirmation Assessment & Letters of Support for Gender-Affirming Care
While all CAPS providers work with all students, some specialize in specific student populations, including LGBTQIA2S+. CAPS providers work with Campus Health's multidisciplinary team to provide gender affirmation assessments, letters of support for gender-affirming treatment, and comprehensive gender-affirming care. Students interested in LGBTQIA2S+ mental health services can speak with a care coordinator.
Substance Use Assessment
If you have concerns about your substance use, an assessment can help you determine what's going on and your next steps. An assessment is a focused interview with a substance use specialist where you will talk about your substance use, history of use, any patterns in your behavior, consequences of use, any concerns, problems associated with use. Based on your assessment, your provider will make recommendations about the right level of care for you and help you get connected with the next steps.
Note: A referral from a CAPS provider is required for substance use assessments at CAPS.
