Makele has a Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies from the University of Utah with a minor focus in Women's Health.
Role at CAPS
Makele provides services to survivors of interpersonal and gender-based violence. Their role is to support students who experience violence in navigating campus and community referrals, taking steps towards healing, and any other individualized needs. Makele is a facilitator for the Survivor Support Group and can assist with emotional support, safety planning, mental health referrals, legal support, on/off campus accompaniments.

Professional Interests
Makele has a trauma-informed approach to working with survivors and believes in collaboration with and empowering those who experience trauma. She particularly enjoys working with youth, college students, and the LGBTQIA+ community. She has a passion for education and prevention as well as community healing.
Personal Interests
Makele enjoys making ceramics, snuggling with their animals, caring for plants, and cooking. They also love music, art, and being close to cacti.
